Dealing with Psoriasis

I have been suffering for what I thought was severe dandruff for several years. I got it during may mid 20s. I have tried various anti-dandruff shampoos and herbal creams and oils but none of them worked for me. I also consulted some dermatologists in my town. I found out that it was psoriasis when it also appeared on my face and back. Using biopsy procedure, it was ruled out that it was indeed psoriasis. My doctor prescribed me Methorex tablets. This is what I found about Methorex on the web:

Methorex 2.5mg Tablet is a medicine used to treat rheumatoid arthritis where it can prevent further joint damage. It is also used to treat severe forms of a skin disease called psoriasis by killing cells in the skin which are growing too quickly. Methorex 2.5mg Tablet may be used alone or in combination with other medicines.

I took Methorex and followed the prescribed dosage. If I am right, my treatment did not last a year. My psoriasis on my face was finally removed. Another doctor whom I consulted also prescribed a very effective medicine. It is called Daivobet. This Daivobet gel can be bought in drugstores provided that you present your prescription. You can use it twice a week directly on your scalp to treat psoriasis. I cannot find it in Lazada but there’s a product almost similar to it here in Shopee. It is called Dovobet. You can check it here: https://invol.co/cl2r5tc.

One of the problems of a psoriasis patient is finding the right shampoo. It seems that all shampoos cause more scales or dandruff like stuff on your scalp. However, I managed to find an effective shampoo which removed the itchy feeling of the scalp and its flaking. I have been using it to manage my scalp psoriasis for almost 5 years now. It costs more than other shampoos but I can say that it is really worth it. The brand is Neutrogena. To be exact, it is Neutrogena T/Gel Therapeutic Shampoo. One bottle of 473 ml or 16 fl oz could last for probably 2 months. I buy 2 bottles every now and then to save from the shipping cost. You can use it everyday. You do not need much to put on your hair.

You can buy them here:

I hope I was able to help people who suffer from this kind of skin disease. My recommendation is to consult a doctor particularly a dermatologist. If you have any questions, you can ask in the comment section. If you have already tried these treatments, feel free to share you experiences as well.

Asus Zenfone 2: The Sleek Surprise

Reposting this review for the first Asus Zenfone 2.

I had no idea whatsoever of what the Asus Zenfone 2 was at first; it was only until I heard of it from a friend of mine that I started to become curious of what the so-called “Marvel of Craftsmanship and Engineering” has to offer to its potential customers. I did what any average consumer would do before buying something; I did a little research on the background of this interesting piece of technology, little did I know that I was in for a big surprise.

The Asus Zenfone 2 was announced in January of 2015 and released during March of the same year; from here I can already assume that this was something still fresh and new, but what really blew me away are the fantastic specifications that the mobile phone has to offer. The multi-touch dual-sim Asus Zenfone 2 boasts several awesome qualities, such as its 1920×1080 pixels (401 ppi pixel density) resolution, its Intel Atom Z3560/Z3580 chipset, working alongside its Quad Core 1.3/2.8 GHz CPU, its buff memory capacity, available up to 64 GB and most important of all, the Asus Zenfone 2 offers a neat camera to complete the deal, for photos, the autofocus, dual-LED flash camera can reach up to 13 megapixels, at a 4128 x 3096 pixels resolution, for videos on the other hand, the camera can offer up to 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution at 30 frames per second. The camera also contains neat features such as touch focus, face detection, panorama and HDR, not bad for a sweet package such as this.

My mind was set, I wanted this phone, I wanted to own an Asus Zenfone 2, as tempting as all of it sounded, I didn’t buy a unit the date it was made available, I took into consideration what would hurt my wallet the least, so I patiently waited for its availability in online shops. I was able to grab the opportunity for a huge discount during the start of the holiday, April 2. I bought a 16GB Black Asus Zenfone 2 ZE550ML during the same day, April 2, the phone was originally priced at 10,999 pesos, but with the help of my 1500 peso discount voucher, I was able to happily purchase it at the new price of 9,499 pesos. I did follow-ups on my order and I was eventually able to receive it in the 15th of April.

I immediately made a test run of the phone during a vacation in Puerto Galera, and the Asus Zenfone 2 lived up to my expectations. I was able to capture neat selfies and spectacular pictures of the places we went to, the vibrant tone of the images were highly evident, the concentration of the bright and dark colors was wonderfully blended by the camera to form a fantastic image. The performance of this camera is so good that it makes an average photo look like a classic oil painting with its richness in color, never wasting a single pixel.

Besides the perks of the Zenfone 2’s camera, my phone was also put to good use during the vacation when a friend of mine used the Zenfone for typing and sending an email to her colleague, the best part about this is that a large bulk of the burden was taken out of her back when we discovered that the phone already had Google Drive installed, so there was no need for any more word processing since we resorted to Google Docs, all of this done using only the Zenfone’s mobile data, take note, we were riding on a boat when all of this conspired. We were also able to upload our photos immediately, while on vacation. Impressive indeed.

The Asus Zenfone 2 does offer more than what meets the eye, with a little tinkering and digging, the Zenfone becomes more extravagant and spectacular than what it already is. The Asus Zenfone 2 offers two additional modes to what it currently has, the Easy Mode and the Children Mode. The Easy Mode offers larger icons and text, very suitable and most preferable for newcomers in the mobile phone interface scene. The Children Mode on the other hand, as the name itself suggests, is primarily for minors. Children Mode allows parents to set an “app whitelist” for their children, limiting the available apps they can use, the phone calls, and also the convenient “game time” setting. The game time setting is a feature of Children Mode wherein the screen automatically locks up at the designated time of the parents once “play time” is over for the kids.

The Zenfone 2 also makes selfies easier; a beautification feature is now added to the camera and along with it, the user is now given more freedom to customize the camera to as how he wants it to be through the settings and manual mode. Manual mode contains several features such as Set White Balance, ISO, exposure, and optimization. Taking of pictures has also been made easier with the option to take pictures through the use of the volume button, very useful especially in times when the capture button can’t always be pressed.

The phone’s mobile data is also something recognizable, reaching up to speeds of 14 Mbps using 4G download and an upload speed of 2.64 Mbps. The dual-sim interface of the Zenfone 2 is also something to look out for, with the phone being designed to handle such a feature with precise ease both for the user and the device. You will be allowed to look at all messages from both sims, complete with two “send message” buttons, one for each sim.

The Zenfone 2 also offers the Zenmotion feature; Zenmotion contains gestures that the user can appoint to whatever functions they want for easier use of the device. Zenmotion can be broken down into two, the Touch and Motion Gestures. The Touch Gesture allows the user to draw letters on the screen of the Zenfone, which would then open an app as how the user configures it. The available letters are W, S, e, C, Z and V, letter casing is observed. The Motion Gesture on the other hand allows the a unique feature wherein the user can shake the Zenfone 2 twice to take a screenshot or create a new task in Do It Later.

The Zenfone 2 also has a strong point in its power management; it has several modes capable of extending your battery life by preventing mobile data usage or stopping unused apps if not needed to conserve power even further.

In summary, the Zenfone 2 is a thing for the ages, it’s a shoo-in in my list of the best phones, it is affordable and at the same time, it’s of the top quality, with high performance specifications that really blasted my expectations for it. In all honesty, everything has a pro and a con, in this case, the only issue with the Zenfone 2 is that in its dual sim feature, only one sim can access mobile data usage, and the other sim will be for calling and texting. Besides that, I don’t see anything wrong with the Zenfone 2; it truly lives up to the standards as a sleek surprise.
